Workshop on long read sequencing

On the 14th and 15th of August a workshop focused on analysing long read took place in Radix building at the Wageningen University & Research campus.

The workshop was a joint effort of Genetwister Technologies B.V. and Wageningen University. 14 participants among which were researchers from Genetwister,shareholders of Genetwister, students and PhD students with different backgrounds. Participants learned about benefits and practical aspects of the application of Pacific Biosciences and Oxford Nanopore Technology reads. Exercises included performing de novo assembly, read mapping and comparing the results from both technologies.

The workshop was not only a place to acquire new skills and try out the technology before putting it to work in projects, but it turned out to be a great opportunity to share ideas, raise questions and discuss new possibilities.
